Ryan Lochte gives ‘guarantee’ that Michael Phelps will swim at Tokyo Olympics
Murphy followed up his gold medal win in the 100-meter backstroke with a second individual gold in Thursday night’s 200-meter backstroke.

“I’ve been able to come back and I’ve been able to accomplish things that I’ve just dreamt of”. “Lochte going to win his 13th career medal!”
Phelps and Lochte have been the top two on the podium in almost every 200m IM Olympics and World Championship since 2003. “You know what, I can definitely say that, because I guarantee he will be there”, Lochte said.
I’m sure the announcers at the CBC strive for accuracy, but they really messed this one up.
During their broadcast of the men’s 200m individual medley that featured the final showdown between Ryan Lochte and Michael Phelps, CBC announcer Elliotte Friedman got his lanes mixed up. In a come-from-behind upset, USA’s Simone Manuel became the first female African American swimmer to win an individual gold medal. Cate was under her own world-record pace at the turn, but had nothing coming back and fell all the way to sixth.
So is this Michael Phelps’s final Olympics?
My favorite event, the 50-meter freestyle, otherwise known as the “Splash and Dash” event will feature two American finalists and NC State University’s Simonas “Simi” Bilis representing Lithuania in the men’s final.
He has 12 Olympic medals, six gold, and sits only behind Phelps in terms of being the most successful male swimmer in Olympic history.
“Getting out of the pool may take a little bit more energy, it might be a bit harder, but it’s just as sweet standing on top of the podium listening to your national anthem play”.
Australia’s Mitch Larkin grabbed the silver in 1:53.96, just ahead of Russia’s Evgeny Rylov with the bronze in 1:53.97.
Phelps also described the participation of refugees in Rio as “special”.
“I’ve always wanted to go to the west coast”.
While Phelps has never lost the 200 IM Olympic race dating back to Athens 2004, Lochte has won every World Championship since 2009 – although it should be noted, in that time Phelps only swam once (2011) at the Worlds.

Lochte doubted in 2012 that the world had seen the last of Phelps at the Olympics. “I only get to put a racing suit on two more times after tonight”.
