The actor, director Tim Miller and the writers worked on Deadpool for six years and became very close during the process.

Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick jokingly call themselves “The Real Heroes Here” in Deadpool’s opening credits, but it’s not entirely inaccurate. It was really a core creative team of us, Ryan, and the director Tim Miller. They have stuck with the film for years, even where it wasn’t clear whether or not the project would actually come to pass, according to Den of Geek. “Interestingly, Ryan wanted us there”, the writing duo mentioned to host Kevin Smith on the latest episode of AMC’s “Geeking Out”. Just ask Bea Arthur’s agent or any of the fans he’s helped out.

Reynolds spent over a decade curating the superhero film and his passion and commitment certainly paid off. If Fox couldn’t accommodate that, which it turned out the studio could not, then he was willing to pay to have them there. No one could have predicted that Deadpool would earn upwards of $700 million worldwide, but you’d best believe that the sequel will have more money to play with.

It’s not the only thing that Reynold’s has paid out of pocket for either. Ryan Reynolds didn’t think that was right, so he footed the bill to have them there.
