Ryan says GOP needs to unify to defeat Clinton

This week, he’s moving to pick up the pieces. The truth is that despite their rhetoric about federalism, Republicans – just like Democrats – are fans of federal power when the federal government is doing something they want, and fans of state power when the states are doing something they want.

Enter Speaker Paul Ryan, who has not yet endorsed Trump.

Trump supporters are divided over whether undocumented immigrants should be allowed to stay in the US if they meet certain requirements; 47% say they should, while 52% disagree.

Trump and Ryan had a phone call in March to discuss the House Republican’s planned election-year agenda. But now that Trump is set to be the nominee, Hatch hasn’t been asked to make his support official.

“I’m optimistic it can be done, but I don’t think it’s a sure thing at all”, said David Wilkins, a Greenville, S.C.-based attorney who was state finance chairman for Sen. “I’m trying to figure out what the upside is”. He’s our nominee. Whoever the nominee would turn out to be, any one of the 17 – he was one of the 17.

“These are my people”, he declared to cheers from the approximately 2,000 people who paid $200 each to attend the Nassau County GOP’s annual “Patriots Reception” dinner. He is also planning a trip to Washington on Thursday to meet party leaders, including House Speaker Paul Ryan, who have had a mixed reaction to his primary success. “We have a nominee, it looks like he may well be very competitive, and we want to win the White House”, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., told reporters. As you know, there were many candidates for the Republican nomination.

On Tuesday, Republican Senator James Inhofe criticized Ryan’s statements, saying Trump “is the nominee, he’s going to be working together and have to establish a workable relationship, and I think they will”.

“It’s certainly at the top of my list”, Sen.

“He hasn’t expressed himself in certain circumstances that have really impressed me”, Bishop told The News.

“Trump has to show that he’s willing to be a Republican, basically”, he said. Meanwhile, the Democratic Congressional leadership announced that it would unveil the “Trump Textbook” today. Priebus has called for Republicans to unite behind Trump.

Republican Donald Trump pulled even with Democratic rival Hillary Clinton in a Reuters/Ipsos opinion poll released on Wednesday, in a dramatic early sign that the November 8 presidential election might be more hotly contested than first thought. I simply can not preside over this choice and gavel this nomination into being.

Donald Trump on Tuesday posted a clip on Instagram that depicts Hillary Clinton blaming the attacks on the US consulate in Benghazi on an online anti-Muslim video. I was being hopeful that he would moderate his too-often intemperate tone, and hopeful that he would offer reassurance about his too-often malleable political convictions.

Trump supporters also are far more negative about the effects of free trade agreements than are non-Trump supporters. Renee Elmers of North Carolina, Rep. Scott Desjarlais of Tennessee and Duncan Hunter of California – all made clear the need for a continued outreach between the two camps, according to people familiar with the meeting. Party unity still does matter. Trump said at the time during a press conference in Washington that Ryan “couldn’t have been nicer”.

“I don’t think he will fall into line”, Trump said of Ryan. The presidential race was on lawmakers’ minds on Capitol Hill, too. Trump hasn’t shown much affinity for party-building, saying again Wednesday that if Republican leaders won’t cooperate with him, he’ll just go his own way.

I think sooner or later he’ll have to come around. “There’s typically 10 on the Florida ballot”.

Trump mixed in a few local flourishes – including suggesting a Long Island construction company could win the contract to build his proposed Mexican border wall – but largely delivered the same style of speech he has been giving across the nation, including at a handful of fundraisers, since he launched his unlikely presidential campaign 11 months ago. And after Thursday’s meeting, patience will wear thin among many in his party.

And if he doesn’t? “And that can’t be the message back to the American people”.
