Ryan stands by his Trump endorsement — for now
When Ryan, who so far hasn’t pulled his support for Trump despite a slew of hateful gaffes committed by the mogul, was asked whether the nominee could do something so bad that he would eventually rescind his endorsement, Ryan replied with certainty.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump speaks during a campaign rally at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena, Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2016, in Jacksonville, Fla.
Trump on Wednesday dismissed suggestions that the GOP frustration was hurting his campaign.
Donald Trump’s refusal to publicly endorse Paul Ryan for his primary next Tuesday didn’t set off the furious infighting yesterday in the GOP, but it did appear to be the straw that broke the camel’s back.
“None of these things are ever blank checks”, Ryan said during an interview with Wisconsin-based radio program the Jerry Bader Show.
As for Ryan, Pence described him to reporters Thursday as “a very close personal friend” and said he “felt very strongly about endorsing his re-election”. “I think you’re going to continue to see that relationship grow”. The Indiana governor said he had discussed his support of Ryan with Trump earlier in the day and that his running mate encouraged him to endorse the House speaker.
“I don’t like doing this, I don’t want to do this, but I will do this because I feel I have to in order to defend Republicans and our principles so that people don’t make the mistake of thinking we think like that”, Ryan said Thursday.
In a statement, Ryan’s campaign said that they had not sought Trump’s endorsement and that they expected to beat the Speaker’s long-shot challenger Paul Nehlen regardless.
The confession is Manafort’s first confirmation that things are not as rosy as he’s continued to insist they are among Trump’s inner circle.
“Well, I thank you for the question”, he said.
Republican House members Richard Hanna of New York, Pennsylvania’s Charlie Dent and Florida’s Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Carlos Curbelo have said they won’t support Trump.
“He had all sorts of opportunities – what he did was put someone on the ballot to run with him that wasn’t just a good political pick; he put someone on the ballot who could govern”, Walker said.

In a half-hour speech followed by a short question-and-answer period, Pence also brought up a news broken this week by the Wall Street Journal: The United States airlifted $400 million in cash to Iran on the same day the country released American hostages. He also said he has “never been there” with Sen. John McCain of Arizona and Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire, according to NBC News. Some supporters hope Pence will counterbalance Trump’s more provocative remarks. “I’m so grateful to all the people who have reached out to me”.
