Load factor – a measure of how full the flights are – was up 4 per cent to 94 per cent.
September marks a year-on-year increase in passenger numbers for Michael O’Leary and his low-priced airline.
In reaction, Ryanair shares – listed in London and Dublin – were up 3 per cent at lunchtime, or €0.3 to €13.2.
Looking ahead, Ryanair said customers can now look forward to more service enhancements, as it continues Year 2 of its AGB programme, which include new auto hire service, a new website, new app, new cabin interiors, new crew uniforms, and improved inflight menus.
Would-be rival to Ryanair, Wizz Air, also reported a very strong September performance, with a 22% increase in passengers.
Not to be outdone, however, central and eastern Europe-focused carrier Wizz Air also posted strong September traffic figures today.
Figures released by worldwide Consolidated Airlines’ Group (IAG), which took over Aer Lingus in August, show that revenue passenger km – a measure of passenger volume – at the Irish carrier rose 9.1 per cent in September to 1.78 million.
