S.Korea, China defence officials to discuss N.Korea test

Though North Korea is posturing itself as a hydrogen bomb powerhouse and country capable of defending itself from an attack by the United States, many analysts from the USA and South Korea say that Kim Jong-un is simply blowing smoke, and that the hydrogen bomb does not have the capabilities that the country is describing.

Pyongyang is under heavy global sanctions for its development of nuclear weapons.

The North says its permanent representative to the United Nations office sent a letter of protest to the WEF’s managing board on Thursday, January 14.

Park said South Korea will continue its loudspeaker campaign, calling it “the surest and most effective psychological warfare tool”.

North Korea has in recent years touted its drone program, a relatively new addition to its arsenal.

The H.R. 757 legislation, which received support from both sides of the house, focuses on companies and individuals that facilitate the transfer of financial and non-financial resources in violation of USA executive orders or UN Security Council Resolutions to entities related to North Korea.

The tone of Kim’s comments, which sought to glorify him and justify the test, is typical of state media propaganda.

In September 2005, the US agency designated the bank as a “primary money laundering concern” for its alleged assistance to North Korea’s illicit activities such as money laundering and counterfeiting. It also has been used to blackmail other countries, especially South Korea, to provide humanitarian aid. He’s expected to use the congress to announce major state policies and shake up the country’s political elite to further consolidate his power.

In the wake of the nuclear test, the two Koreas have settled into a Cold War-era standoff. It returned northward immediately after the shots were fired.

“He told the churches that he was a missionary working on North Korea and sending stuff from China into the North to help poor North Koreans”, Ma told Reuters by telephone, recalling Kim making speeches around California and Virginia in 2007 and seeking donations.

North Korean military propaganda leaflets had been found in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province, he said.

On Wednesday, Park said in a nationally televised news conference that South Korea will push as hard as it can for strong sanctions that can force change in North Korea.

Since Pyongyang’s fourth nuclear test, Park has come under fire for failing to persuade China to take strong actions to rein in North Korea despite her claim that Seoul’s ties with Beijing have become very close.

Her stance was backed hours later by a meeting in Seoul of the US, Japanese and South Korean special envoys on North Korea.

North Korean drone flights across the world’s most heavily armed border are rare, but have happened before.

While the South’s broadcasts also include news and pop music, much of the programming challenges North Korea’s government more directly.
