Sabres starting goalie Lehner injured in opener against Sens
It was more than a new season for the Buffalo Sabres, tonight was the beginning of a new era. Chad Johnson took over in nets for the Sabres. Lehner never could quite hold down the net in Ottawa, will he be able to in Buffalo?

“It’s older, it’s been through it”, said Cameron. But maybe in time, this place is going to be jumping every time the Sabres score a goal.
It was part of his beginning as a Sabre, and surely enough to demonstrate to fans they have a lot to look forward to.
The Senators then hung on and sealed the win on Curtis Lazar’s goal into an empty net with 1:04 remaining.
The Sabres are still looking for their first win of the season. Ottawa is 12-0-3 in its past 15 road games. Lehner appeared to injure the leg on a routine save.
“He was apologetic”, Bylsma said.
Halfway through the period it was Turris again, firing home his second goal of the season into a wide open cage. Hoffman’s pass deflected off Sabres center David Legwand’s skate to Turris, who was sitting by himself at the top of the crease.
The Buffalo Sabres’ game-worn jersey auction began yesterday.
It didn’t even take a replay to see that the play was off-sides.
“It’s a pretty special moment for me”, Eichel said, via ESPN.com. Granted, I vaguely remember the last time that this rule was called into action.
“He played really well from what I understand, from what I’ve been told and I got the game report after the game it sounded like he was the best player on the ice”, Bylsma said. It was also the fastest goal scored by an National Hockey League team in its opening game since October 6, 2006, when New Jersey’s Zach Parise scored 26 seconds in against Carolina.

He underwent an MRI recently, and the results are reportedly not great. “This was offside, and it shouldn’t have been a goal”. Goaltender Robin Lehner got the start as expected, but was forced to leave with a lower-body injury in the second period. D Jake McCabe and D Matt Donovan were scratched for Buffalo…. And while their respective teams were not playing each other, it still is the first of many opportunities for fans to compare the two.
