Sacramento Kings ready to make John Calipari a huge offer

The Sacramento Kings were able to right the ship a little bit after a 1-7 start to this season but this year still looks like another lost one for the Kings. Things between George Karl and the Kings haven’t been great as he has reportedly been on the hot seat and possibly coaching for his job already this season. There are now reports that the Sacramento Kings are willing to make an offer to Calipari, one that he “cannot refuse”.

And with this, you know that only means one thing: Hello there, John Calipari! Though George Karl is still the team’s head coach, there’s been rampant speculation and rumors he’ll be fired soon and his replacement is already being sought.

“Ranadivé’s biggest dream is to have Kentucky coach John Calipari come out and coach this roster full of Kentucky players”.

Author Matt Moore cites a report from Bleacher Report and Ric Bucher, saying, “The belief still is it’s a matter of when, not if, Karl will be removed as the head coach…” It’s extremely unlikely that Calipari would leave mid-season to join the Kings so any offer would be for next season. His on-court success and the relationships with players are just two of the reasons why Calipari would appeal to an National Basketball Association franchise.

A short time after Bucher’s report, a source denied that the Kings intend to back up a Brinks truck in front of Calipari’s house, according to Pro Basketball Talk.

Here, of course, he’s referring to team owner Vivek Ranadivé, who has been rumored to be a huge supporter of bringing in Calipari to coach the team.

And even if the “offer he simply can not refuse” were to include a few extravagant perks, he’s got a damn good job in Lexington, Kentucky.
