Sacrificial animal prices up 15-20 percent ahead of feast holiday

Malls in Dubai and other emirates have been gearing up to announce an array of festivities as part of this Eid Al Adha as residents plan to enjoy the long holiday season.

Eid Al-Adha starts on the 24th of September.

To commemorate this extraordinary display of faith, Muslims all over the world sacrifice animals on Eid al Adha. This is a very large number by any standard, especially considering that we haven’t counted the money that is spent on other celebratory customs, such as new clothes, snacks for guests, pocket money for the children, and so on.

Some 300 to 800 animals can be sacrificed in one hour at most of these slaughter houses, said a municipality spokesman. People donate overseas but it is also common to give locally.

Additional activities like traditional performances will add to the family fun and joy during the four-day Eid period, from 6 to 10pm.

Morever, the Arabian Center and Lamcy Plaza in Dubai are also buzzing with excitement and jubilation as they brace themselves to welcome visitors during Eid Al Adha from Sept.23 to Sept.26 from 6 to 9pm.

First-grader Sousan Mousa said, “I am excited about the gifts and shoving my face into cupcakes”.

This Eid will be different than others for Noureddine because her husband is away for Hajj.
