Sad! Swedish DJ, Avicii is dead
Rita Ora looked downcast as she dined at London’s Scott’s Restaurant in Mayfair on Friday evening, the same night it was revealed that her friend and peer Avicii was found dead aged just 28. The track featured a vocal sample from soul singer Etta James that was also used in several other hits around the same time.

Avicii told Billboard magazine he made a decision to stop touring in 2016 for health reasons.
Last year, he posted this message on his website, promising to keep creating: “The next stage will be all about my love of making music to you guys”. Two years previous, the world renowned DJ had a procedure to remove both his appendix and gall bladder, of which he recovered well. He continued to produce songs and albums. Sometimes, we relate ourselves with the music or with that artist. Same was true for Avicii. “I remember in 2011, I suggested to event organisers to do an arena kind of concert in India with this young kid named Avicii, and we got him for a fairly nominal amount. Choose me, and I’ll show you love”. As a dance music icon, he touched the lives of millions around the world, and broke down barriers between genres like dance music and country.
David Guetta tweeted, “Something really terrible happened. We lost a friend with such a attractive heart and the world lost an incredibly talented musician”, he added. “I took on board too much negative energy, I think”, he added at the time. “Everybody knows Avicii but very few people know Tim”, said director Levan Tsikurishvili. “Thoughts go out to his family and friends”.
Pop star Charlie Puth paid tribute to Avicii as “a genius and a music innovator” and said he “really opened my eyes to what my production could one day sound like”.
The Stockholm-native collaborated with many high-profile artists and groups, including Madonna, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, Jon Bon Jovi and Robbie Williams.
Condolences also came from the Swedish royal family and Sweden’s prime minister.
Filmmaker Levan Tsikurishvili describes the documentary as a “cautionary tale that explores the taxing nature and intensity of fame” from the artist’s perspective.
