Pokémon Go is an augmented reality game made by Niantic Labs using the Pokemon intellectual property owned by Japanese game and console maker Nintendo.

Technology news site TechCrunch said that game developer Niantic Inc had planned to launch Pokemon GO in Japan on July 20 but had cancelled it, citing a source as saying that the company was anxious the hype generated by the game would overload its servers.

As Pokemon Go players are well aware, Niantic has really struggled to provide anything close to a stable service since release, even when the app itself isn’t crashing.

“Nintendo have a very large investment in said company, and this game was hyped up big time over the last couple of weeks or so – they should have been prepared, it’s just not good enough”.

Via an official release (h/t Excite News), McDonald’s Japan stated that the game’s developer was “diligently preparing” Pokemon GO for a smooth Japan release.

Apple not only charges a fee to put an app in their store, but they also collect 30% of the money players spend on the game.

Certainly, putting the game back on the burner will frustrate many enthusiasts in Japan who are eagerly awaiting the launch.

He added that he would be careful playing the game, after seeing reports of accidents related to “Pokemon Go”.

While Pokemon GO will not prove a major direct boost, it could prompt Nintendo to cash in more effectively on an extensive catalogue of characters. Nintendo referred any queries regarding Pokemon GO to Pokemon Company.

According to Martin, Pokémon Go’s number of paid users is 10 times higher than that of Candy Crush, that had more than $1 billion of revenue in 2 years. He is anticipating that Japanese fans will get an improved version of the game as technological glitches reported in other countries are repaired.
