Tonight’s awards show gathers some of the biggest stars in Hollywood, which should make for an entertaining event and several channels are covering the red carpet arrivals.

The SAG Awards also give honors to television shows. Davis plays Lila, a grief-stricken mother who in the aftermath of her son’s drive-by shooting murder attends a support group where she meets a woman (Lopez) who has lost her daughter.
Broadcast first in 1995, actors and actresses vie for statues of a naked man holding comedy and tragedy masks, affectionately titled “The Actor”, which are awarded by two committees – one for film and one for television.
It is Elba’s second SAG win at Saturday’s ceremony.
The actress, who has also won two Emmys for the role, said the win is ‘really, really touching’.

As for other TV winners, you should probably expect actors like Jon Hamm, Viola Davis, Jeffrey Tambor and Julia Louis-Dreyfus up on that stage, barring any huge upsets.
Latifah gave one of the evening’s most stirring speeches while accepting the award for most outstanding female performance in a TV movie or miniseries for HBO’s Bessie Smith tale “Bessie”.
“Trumbo”, a biography of blacklisted screenwriter Dalton Trumbo, led all films with four nominations, including a best actor nod for star Bryan Cranston and a supporting actress nomination for Helen Mirren.

Although the SAG Awards are best known for their film honors, half of the winners announced Saturday night will be for acting performances on the small screen.
Accepting the ensemble award for “Orange Is the New Black”, co-star Laura Prepon gestured to the cast of the prison comedy standing behind her.
No, Tina and Amy aren’t hosting, but they will be presenting Carol Burnett with the Lifetime Achievement Award, so there’ll be sure to be a few jokes in there.

Among this year’s SAG presenters are Idris Elba (nominated by SAG for both “Luther” and “Beasts of No Nation”, but not the Oscars); members of the nominated “Spotlight” ensemble Michael Keaton, Rachel McAdams, and Mark Ruffalo, the supporting actor Oscar nominee; Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice victor Brie Larson and her pint-sized co-star, Jacob Tremblay (“Room”); Oscar contender Eddie Redmayne (“The Danish Girl”); Julianne Moore; Susan Sarandon; and Kristen Wiig.
