Saints head coach Sean Payton says Drew Brees will start vs. Cowboys
Can the beat up Cowboys defense stop an injured Drew Brees?

After watching the Saints the past three weeks, it’s evident the team is in need of receivers and a quality tight end.
Byrd isn’t afraid to be seen now however, and is all smiles as the Saints try to slowly begin climbing their way out an 0-3 hole – a hole that a few fans believe that he is partially responsible for. In a season where the defense was expected to be much improved over a unit that played over its skill level a year ago, the dismantling they suffered at the clutches of Atlanta’s Julio Jones, who exploded for 164 yards on 12 catches with two touchdowns. It’s a big part of the reason why they’re tied for 19 in the National Football League with 20 points per game. But, make no mistake, he is a real threat and perhaps the most risky weapon the Saints have.
Thirteen seasons into his career, tight end Jason Witten is battling through a pair of sprained ankles and a sprained knee to serve as a security blanket for new starting quarterback Brandon Weeden. And it doesn’t necessarily mean just in the passing game.
Starting running back Joseph Randle started the game hot, as he rushed for 85 yards on his first three carries. They are ranked 7th with 380 yards per game.
I expect the offensive line and running game to get on track and stay their against New Orleans.
“He does more than anybody in the building to get ready to play, whether that’s rehab or film”, Strief said. “And I feel like that’s coming”, Cooks said. But not like in the past in this offense.
Payton said, “Number one, I think he is bright”. In his lone start last season, a blowout loss to the Arizona Cardinals, Weeden proved to be every bit of a draft bust.
“And that’s an area that we’ve got to get better at as receivers”. This year, they are on a similar pace with 4 sacks in 3 games.
“We trust and we know that [Payton] is going to come up with something special”. The Cowboys downed the Saints 38-17 last season in Dallas.
Well folks, this is it – if the Saints lose Sunday then the season is over.
Last week, backup quarterback Luke McCown played as well as you could ask for. If the Saints lose the battle of turnovers Sunday night they will more than likely lose the game!
By listing Brees as probable with a right shoulder injury, the Saints have declared that Brees is a virtual certainty to be available for normal duty.
The key was the Saints forced three turnovers that night and the Saints’ offense turned that into a runaway win. If he can’t go, the Colts will start 40-year-old Matt Hasselbeck, the brother-in-law of Fox News’ Elizabeth Hasselbeck.

Another player who could help provide that dynamic element is newly-signed runner/receiver C.J. Spiller. Just injuries and limited effectiveness. But he NEVER was one to be afraid to tell you what he thought, and it was that refreshing honesty along with another local New Orleans broadcaster named Lloyd “Hap” Glaudi, that made an impression on me in those days – and no doubt influences the way that I write these stories like this for you this morning.
