Saints’ Payton expects Brees to throw at practice all week

On Friday, after a week of zipping passes to receivers in practice, Brees came to the opposite conclusion: He will be ready to play when the Saints (0-3) play the Dallas Cowboys (2-1) on Sunday night at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

Brees was inactive for last Sunday’s game at the Carolina Panthers with a bruised rotator cuff.

Brees is fighting to be fit to play for the New Orleans Saints against a Dallas Cowboys side whose own quarterback has been hit by the injury bug. There were two explosive plays that I think that he is referencing.

I am going with quarterback Drew Brees.

“I was going to temper my enthusiasm…be smart and make sure that it’s one of these ramp-ups and it’s not zero to 60”, Brees said.

All the while, Murphy was confident he was close to breaking a big return because of the potential he saw during several long kick and punt returns during the preseason, which won him the job to start the regular season. Byrd, who signed a six-year, $54 million contract before the 2014 season, landed on season-ending injured reserve last October after appearing in four games, practiced with the Saints all summer, then left New Orleans’ final organized team activity and disappeared. I believe they will somehow find that magic Sunday night against the Cowboys to pick up their first win of the season. “With regards to typically, we’ve always had three with one fullback, but there have been weeks where we may dress an extra fullback, but we’re right there that’s an area we’ve looked at and will continue to do so, but yeah I think that process doesn’t stop”.

The New Orleans Saints have reportedly re-done quarterback Drew Brees’ deal, all but ensuring that he’ll remain with the franchise through at least the 2016 National Football League season. Why? Brees would greatly improve the passing game and by extension, provide room for the running game.

Payton said Brees has made clear progress during practice as the week has unfolded, including throwing the ball downfield effectively. Getting Jackson back also could help open things up for Matt Jones and Alfred Morris.

In a losing cause for the Saints, McCown finished the game completing 31-of-38 passes for 310 yards, while Ingram accumulated 50 yards on the ground, including a touchdown, on 14 carries. Delhomme shredded the Cowboys for 278 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another score in a 31-24 New Orleans victory. People want to see him play.
