While it remains a mystery where Galette will end up, one thing is certain: He won’t be missed by his former teammates in New Orleans.

The incident was not Galette’s only off-the-field incident, and was just the last straw for him in New Orleans. But he fell out of favor with Saints management as last season went on – then sealed his fate with two allegations of violence against women this offseason.

As mentioned by the Times-Picayune, Galette frequently caused problems in the Saints’ locker room. Galette was also arrested on domestic battery charges in January, but those charges were dismissed in February. Galette told media outlets that he met with the NFL about a month ago.

For the Saints defense not to be worse than last year the newly signed Anthony and Kikaha have to produce and quickly however in Rob Ryan’s over complicated schemes there may be a learning curve.

“He thought being captain was more so about status on the team instead of being a leader on and off the field”, another source said. “Sad”, one source said.

Galette also drew the ire of current and former teammates last season when he derisively insisted that the Saints’ current defensive players were better than the veterans from their Super Bowl era.

According to reports, he changed after signing a four-year, $41.5 million deal and being named a captain. The Saints did draft 2 round pick Stephone Anthony and 3 round pick Hau’oli Kikaha, both linebackers that should help replace a few of Galette’s production, eventually.
