In a stunning story, the Saints have decided the team will release veteran Cornerback Keenan Lewis.

Nick Underhill of the Advocate and Mike Triplett of ESPN.com reported the news Friday. Lewis started all 32 regular season games.
Lewis all but confirmed moving on this evening on his Instagram account saying, “I would like to thank New Orleans and all my fans”. I’m glad I had the opportunity to play for the city I grew up in and love. “Hope y’all still cheer for me”.
In 2012, Lewis defended 23 passes and logged 69 tackles for the Steelers, leading to his $25 million over five years contract in New Orleans. The Saints couldn’t have asked for a better deal his first two seasons. Lewis played just six games a year ago and has had sports hernia, knee and hip surgeries since last September.
Lewis sustained a hip/groin injury last season that never seemed to fully heal. He was activated from the physically unable to perform list August 3, but hasn’t practiced since and recent reports indicate he is now has a hip and abductor strain. He returned for one practice at the Greenbrier but that’s it.

In an Instagram post, Lewis indicated he would try to play for another National Football League team.
