Saints revert to season’s early issues in overtime loss to Titans
The rock totally didn’t roll back to the bottom of the hill after it had been pushed halfway up.

The Tennessee Titans showed more fight on Sunday than they have all season long – except it was Brian Orakpo fighting and getting ejected.
“It was kind of frustrating”, Saints coach Sean Payton said in a subdued tone while rattling off a list of such frustrations following the game.
Forbath’s kick last week made him 5 of 5 on late-game, winning field goal tries. “We had a sequence of about two of three things that happened”.
Wide receiver Kendall Wright will not play in Sunday’s game because of a sprained left knee. He caught three tipped balls on the day. Saints quarterback Drew Brees had almost an identical performance, also completing 28 of 39 passes for 387 yards and three touchdowns.
“No, not at the point in the game”, Payton said when asked by the decision. When you lose the turnover battle like we did today – we got one and lost two – (and) you can’t execute a simple field goal, to me, it’s certainly up and down. “I know this was a very exciting opportunity for him to come in and get a win and the way we did, I would have been emotional as well”. We’ve got to do a better job of coaching. Jerricho Cotchery had 82 yards and three receptions while Devin Funchess added 71 yards and one touchdown in three catches.
The blocked field-goal attempt obviously cost the Saints in a big way, but it wasn’t the only special teams blunder committed by New Orleans.
“There’s nothing really to say”, Byrd said. The ball popped into the arms of Walker, who ran free for a 61-yard touchdown. Just the way Titans fans like it. “The stands was the target, to be honest with you guys”. Those two, as well as Mandeville native Michael Mauti should see increased reps on the defensive side of the ball.
Actually, the Saints nicely overcame it on offense. Brees directed a 10-play, 79-yard touchdown drive on the next possession and capped it with a 1-yard dive over the top.
On a weekend when much of Louisiana was in search of a hangover remedy for LSU’s humbling 30-16 loss Saturday night at Alabama, the Saints were expected to soothe everyone’s throbbing temples with a cathartic win over Tennessee.
Marcus Mariota will wear a knee brace against the Saints.
New Orleans didn’t score again.
The Titans cut the lead to 21-20 midway through the third quarter on a 29-yard field goal by Succop. As always, New Orleans knows how to throw a (birthday) party. Behind this unit, the Titans rushed for 112 total yards, and Mariota was sacked zero times.
Tennessee could have taken the lead late in the first half, but running back Dexter McCluster fumbled the ball at the Saints’ 13 after being hit by linebacker David Hawthorne. It’s hard to tell without seeing it on the film, if the trajectory was low, if the hold was clean.
