After failing to finish off the Dallas Cowboys in regulation, the New Orleans Saints needed overtime to record their first win of the season.

Through 4 games, Peters has come through with seven pass deflections and two interceptions. Brees had a passer rating of 119.4.
Terrance Williams, who bailed the Cowboys out of regulation with an incredible diving catch in the end zone on fourth down with 1:51 left, was targeted 10 times by Weeden.
On top of that, linebacker Sean Lee, one of Dallas’ best defensive players, left in the first half with a concussion.
“The first half, a lot of it was the pressure”, Payton said. “As a result, there were a few throwaways… some balls that didn’t get down the field”. They struggled getting aligned, and (Brees) was smart enough to snap it quickly.
“I just tried to keep the safety in the middle of the field and get CJ the ball and let him do the rest”, Brees said. “So it will be good to build off of that”.

Brees appeared to cap off his performance by setting up what should have been an easy game-winning kick for Zack Hocker. They gained 69 yards rushing in the first quarter and also capitalized on several defensive mistakes by the Saints in their second TD drive. Running backs Darren McFadden and Joseph Randle didn’t do him any favors, rushing for an average of 2.7 yards on 21 carries in defeat.
Brees completed 32 of 39 passes for 279 yards and two touchdowns.

-LB Anthony Hitchens led the Cowboys with 11 total tackles, including a half-sack and one quarterback hurry. Which is just fine for the Saints, who remain a substantial work in progress even after these Brees-led heroics.
