Saints to add veteran fullback John Kuhn
The next time someone chants John Kuhn’s name likely will be in the Superdome. According to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky, the New Orleans Saints have agreed to terms with the former Packers fullback. The deal will be for the veteran’s minimum and officially closes the door on a nine-year run with the Packers. Still, Kuhn’s experience and willingness to play on special teams made him an attractive free agent to other teams. Kuhn spent his early years participating mostly on special teams, but became the Packers’ featured fullback around the time Aaron Rodgers replaced Brett Favre under center.

The 6-foot, 250-pound Kuhn will compete with rookie Sione Houma and Johnson.
The 27-year-old Johnson remains a threat to claim the fullback job, making Kuhn’s roster spot uncertain.
After breaking into the National Football League with the Steelers in 2006, Kuhn has played the last nine seasons with the Packers as a short-yardage specialist and occasional backfield receiving weapon.

“At this point in my career, I want to play because I still enjoy it, I still love it, I’m still in shape, I’m still ready to go”, Kuhn said last month in an appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio. His best season came in 2010, when he rushed for 281 yards and four touchdowns on 84 rushes; he also caught 15 passes for 97 yards.
