Saints Welcome Patriots to Training Camp at The Greenbrier
Payton and Patriots coach Bill Belichick spoke before their teams took the field Wednesday morning. “It’s not benefiting either one of the teams, and nothing good is going to come out of it. I think we go out there, handle our business, and we’re all professionals at the end of the day”.

The New Orleans Saints are bringing in defensive tackle David Hunter, who had worked out with the club earlier this week. From training camp outside. It’s not like we are sitting here talking about scheme or NFL or anything else. That’s what we’re here for – this is our job and our living. It’s about getting better and about the competitive fire of going up against someone that’s not on your team.
In 2012, an NFL probe concluded that the Saints had operated improper cash pools rewarding big and even injurious hits.
Saints players were approaching bubbly after the workout, ecstatic with the amount of productive work that was registered – sans fisticuffs – at The Greenbrier.
Fans munched on concession-style foods and drinks and sought autographs after practice.
“That’s unfortunate when you see it happen with other teams”, Payton said. He said any coach who doesn’t try to become familiar with Belichick’s model for running a team is “foolish”. “It’s a beautiful facility”. What that said, I give you my five standout Saints from day one of joint practices with New England. “I don’t know how it’s all going to shake out in the end, but I like the guys we have”.
“It’s a great opportunity as individuals to improve and for our team as a whole to improve”, Belichick added. And I think that’s what they’re looking for, too. “It will be a great three days”.
Now they’ve gathered for a football summit of sorts this week at a secluded luxury resort in the mountains of West Virginia.
“You can work appropriately – you can work hard, get good looks, this isn’t like you’re going 80 percent so now there’s not any fights”.
“The setup is perfect; for us to train with no distractions, it’s really been a good relationship”. We can train with no distractions.
The Patriots are slowly, but surely getting back to full strength. Brady has been in the national spotlight for the past several months due to an investigation into alleged deflated football during the AFC championship game in January.
A hearing in the case was held in New York on Wednesday, during which a judge said he would rule on Sept 4 if the two sides couldn’t resolve the issue.
Lately training camps around the league have churned out various disagreements resulting in punches thrown.

New England’s arrival looked like the beginning of an increasing workload for starters from both teams, a process that will continue through Saturday’s preseason opener between the teams and continuing to the third preseason game next week.
