Salah named Premier League Player of the Season

Sadio Mane has emerged as a major doubt for the Premier League closer on Sunday, in a development that will greatly frustrate manager Jurgen Klopp.

The Reds dropped points in draws with Everton, Stoke City and West Brom to allow Chelsea FC back into the top-four race. But in a season where the competition in the Premier League has been of the highest quality ever and the intensity of the competition the highest ever, we can achieve one of our major objectives by winning today. I have no problem concentrating on Brighton, I have not been skipping forward to think about Real Madrid.

Klopp will be encouraged by the fact Liverpool hold the last remaining unbeaten home record in the Premier League, with their last home defeat coming in April past year.

“It is a very positive situation at the moment”. Without the Champions League, we are already there.

At the end of an exhausting league campaign, Liverpool are still in need of at least a point from the final game of this season, if they are to qualify for the Champions League next season.

“I wouldn’t say on current form we’re going into the game as underdogs”.

But the German warned that Brighton, who have only pride to play for after securing their Premier League status, could prove risky opponents.

The Blues face a tricky trip to Newcastle United on the final day of the season, knowing they’ll need to win at a ground where they have traditionally struggled, and Brighton to cause an upset to qualify. It’s nearly easy to forget now that we started this campaign by going to Hoffenheim, so our journey has been incredibly intense from moment one.

One would struggle to think of a more impactful debut season than that which Mohamed Salah is now enjoying at Liverpool. Then we will have 14 days to prepare for the final.

“The season now for most of the teams in the league is a nice time but for us it is work”.

“It is not just about the top four for them, they have got the Champions League final coming up too”.

Emre Can is still expected to sit out the remainder of the season as the German looks likely to have already played his last game for Liverpool – sour feelings aside, I can’t thank him enough for his impact on this season’s campaign and, providing he goes overseas, I wish him the best.
