Mumbai, Dec.10: Expressing relief over Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s acquittal in the 2002 hit-and-run case, his lawyer Amit Desai on Thursday said that it was a professionally satisfying outcome for him.
It was not only an emotional moment for Salman, who broke down in court after hearing the verdict, but for his family members as well.
On May 6, 2015 a Mumbai Sessions Court sentenced him to five years in prison, post which Khan filed an appeal in the High Court.
On the main aspects as to driving and drunkenness, the prosecution has not brought any material evidence which spells out the offence of the accused, the court said. “Salman Khan is acquitted of all charges”, the court said in an order that it started reading out three days ago.
The High Court said he can’t be found guilty based on the evidence presented.
Salman who is busy shooting for his upcoming movie “Sultan” appeared in the court on Thursday with sister Alvira, before justice A R Joshi, who concluded and adjudicated on the retrial.
As per the verdict, all charges against 49 year old Bollywood actor have been dismissed.
Justice for Sharif or others who were injured in the accident is still awaiting and court’s final ruling might force them to believe that they themselves were responsible for what happened to them on one dark night!!! But Kamaal Khan was never examined as a witness by the prosecution during the trial.
Mr Patil died from tuberculosis in 2007.
“The trial court has described family driver Ashok Singh has a “got up witness” and that he came after 13 years. Ravindra Patil can not be considered as a wholly reliable witness”, the court said, asserting that the sessions court had made a mistake by relying on his statement.

While the prosecution has argued that the actor had taken alcoholic drinks at Rain Bar and Restaurant at Vile Parle before meeting with the mishap in suburban Bandra, Salman has denied the charge saying evidence does not suggest this.
