Salvation Army bell ringers needed
When the couple dropped in their check, the firefighters were unaware that the donation had been made and only hours later realized the bounty they had stumbled across, Salvation Army Northern Division spokeswoman Julie Borgen told NBC News.

Reading Salvation Army will team up with the organisers of Reading Festival to pack more than 800 food parcels for vulnerable people in Reading.
Borgen said the donation means the organization could meet its goal of raising $11.6 million by December 31. “We’ve had consistently more people this year, apply for seasonal help, a seasonal meal or the toys we give away for Christmas”, Eisley said. You’ll receive a pin that you can wear on your coat so people know you’ve already helped this holiday season. Bell ringers and red kettles will be stationed at Hobby Lobby, all three Walmart locations and Sam’s Club, Schneider said.
“A lot of the volunteers we get are college students, so the need is definitely at the middle of December and toward the end of the year. They’re hurting our neighbors and that’s really the hard part for us”. “We’re seeing people we’ve never seen before helping them with food”.
“We will have kettles in front of each Wal-Mart entrance through Thursday, Dec. 24”, he said. Volunteers can be individuals or groups, so shifts of varying lengths can be arranged. From guitar lessons to drama to tutoring programs, the Salvation Army in Prince William offers youth programs that are similar to programs offered by scouting programs.
It doesn’t have to be much, they say even a small handful of spare change helps.
All donations are welcome, but food items and used products are not appropriate for this appeal.

Maj. Jeff Strickler, the Salvation Army’s commander for the Twin Cities, said: ‘We are simply stunned and honored to have received such a generous gift. Volunteers who have adopted that family can then donate those needed items.
