Salvation Army kettle donations on the rise in Parkersburg

Another way to help out the Salvation Army is the Red Kettle Campaign.

It’s a tradition for the Salvation Army of Fayetteville, as they wrapped Day 3 of their annual Angel Tree donation program.

Major Tamayo adds that with just over a week until Christmas the Salvation Army is only a third of the way to their holiday campaign goal. The South Placer kettles have raised about $120,000 since late November.

“During Christmas, this will help 25 children from the most vulnerable families have food, toys, warm winter coats, clothing, hats and gloves through our Toy Shop distribution”. The goal is to raise $200,000 and so far, donations have been low.

Kettle workers like Lorenzo Harris says he believes there’s one reason some people aren’t donating.

“We have a higher volume of people that have come to us this year for assistance”.

Standing in line in the cold on Tuesday morning, Vanessa Altamirano, a Lubbock mother of three says she is thankful. We’re really not sure. This instance isn’t the first time either, he said. Nauta said he has tried to determine why donations are down this year, but he hasn’t been able to find any main cause.

Two days after a fire broke out within The Salvation Army church on Shadyside Avenue in Huntingdon, PA, an investigation into the cause is still ongoing.

Khalsa-Bob is a Sikh, but still volunteers for the Salvation Army regardless of religion affiliation because it’s a “very good organization”.

“I grow up extremely poor”. More volunteer hours will be greatly appreciated.

Volz said he regularly donates clothes to the Salvation Army.

Anna Stanley made a decision to give her Christmas presents away this year to help people in need. Unfortunately, with bad weather over the Thanksgiving holiday and less foot traffic to stores, kettle donations should be up a little more than what they now are.

Numerous families’ stories are the same. She said they’re still looking for bell ringers and those interested can call Joe McKintyre at 702-346-5833.
