The Salvation Army in Door County cooperates and coordinates with other social service providers in Door County so as to not duplicate services. It launched nationally on Monday. There will be kettles at 50 locations throughout the city, collecting money for the less fortunate until Christmas Eve.

Families in need will receive a Christmas food basket and toys for children ages 1-12 just prior to Christmas Day.

This year’s fundraising goal is $896,000, and they’re asking residents from the F-M area to help reach that number. “When the storm hit this past summer we were able to serve thousands of meals, and we were only able to do it thanks to your donations”.

All applicants must apply in person at the Salvation Army and provide identification of all family members, proof of residency, verification of income and expenses and food stamp amount even if you have applied in the past.

The Salvation Army is still looking for volunteers to fill more than 5,000 hours of service.
