Kettle donations have been down for the Salvation Army, but a mans generous donation helped them out for the holidays.

The Salvation Army Dorchester Toy Appeal will distribute hampers to families in need in Dorchester and the surrounding area. House said they enlisted civic clubs like Rotary to help out with bell ringing this year which has made a difference.

For Wanda Hutto, the most important part of today is being able to enjoy it with her family.

“That tells me unemployment is down”, he said.

“God has been truly good to us”, Teresa Flakes said.

As some people woke up this morning to gifts under the tree, others gave the gift of their time to help those in need.

“It is a great cause”, Hawver said.
