“Tomorrow is Thanksgiving but, you feel like it’s today the reason is because you meet new people but, it’s one big family that comes together to have Thanksgiving dinner”.
To make a donation or volunteer with the Salvation Army please give them a call at 477-9872 or 9873. “I’m just thankful to be here to serve these people”.
“Throughout the year we provide emergency assistance to families or individuals in our area who have experienced some sort of a loss”, Stakville Service Center Manager Katie Walker said.
“This is my first year ordained and I want to help as many children as possible”.
Mac Kenzie said only half of their volunteer spots are full, so they’re looking for more people to help out.
“We have volunteers who are picking up the meals and taking them right to the older adults home or handicapped who need a meal”, she said.
But it doesn’t stop here, starting as soon as Friday, the Salvation Army will start prepping for the Christmas season.
The volunteers awakened at 6 a.m.to start preparing the Thanksgiving meal.
And they also wanted to celebrate kids as “vital change managers” in our communities. Part of the Salvation Army’s holiday campaign, the campaign hopes to raise $95,000 locally.
“In Holyoke, I can see very much homeless”, Cuascut said.
Clement has only been with Salvation Army for a year, but her infectious laugh and warm personality have made her queen of the kitchen.
