Sam Allardyce: Sunderland Earned Anfield Point by Never Giving Up

The Merseyside giants conceded two goals in the final eight minutes on Saturday afternoon as they dropped two more points at Anfield, but Lallana has called on his team to continue to work hard in an attempt to improve their results in all competitions.

He fielded new signings Whabi Khazri, Jan Kirchhoff and Lamine Kone from the start at Anfield before also introducing Dame N’Doye early in the game when Duncan Watmore was forced off with an ankle problem.

The walkout by home fans in the 77 minute over rising ticket prices is no excuse for Liverpool’s 2-2 Premier League draw with Sunderland on Saturday, captain Jordan Henderson has said.

“With Wahbi on the left-hand side”. I don’t think anything else will bother us. “That is not good enough at Premier League level because you see you can get punished”. He scored five for Brucey (Hull boss Steven Bruce) at the back end of last season.

Defoe is certainly happier and it is reflecting in his play as he snatched an 89th-minute equaliser in a 2-2 draw at Liverpool. You’ve got to keep a good spirit around the place.

He said: “It could be a big point”.

The Black Cats striker netted his sixth goal in six games to earn his side a valuable point in the battle against relegation, and has received plenty of praise for it.

“When it is bad it has an effect, when it is good it lifts them”.

“But for the whole game I think they have only had those two chances and they have scored”.

An estimated 10,000 supporters heeded the call for a 77th-minute walkout against Sunderland, singing “You greedy b******s, enough is enough” as they went in the hope that someone at the owner – Fenway Sports Group – was listening. “That precious point will hopefully start leading to a victory very, very shortly because we need to start putting a few three-pointers on the board”.

Fabio Borini and Jeremain Lens have both been creative influences in the past but missed the trip to Anfield, and speaking to safc.com Allardyce provided the latest from the treatment room.
