Sam Bradford’s Eagles debut delayed; Zach Ertz has surgery

“That’s my decision. I don’t think he’s real happy with my decision”.

“Zach has a core muscle injury and he’s probably going to be out for a couple weeks”, Kelly said. It is unlikely there will be any further revelation on the matter before the start of the regular season gets closer. Kelly did say that Ertz should be back in time for Philadelphia’s week one game against the Atlanta Falcons, however.

The Eagles later confirmed Ertz underwent surgery to fix the core muscle injury. Ertz, of course, is heading into his 3rd pro season after failing to reach fantasy football starter level each of the past 2 years. “I can’t wait to get out there and play against the Ravens”. There’s a fine line right now in preseason games where you are. Jason Kelce dealt with similar issues that caused him to sit out a handful of games last season. (Bradford’s) first 11-on-11 was two weeks ago and now going out against a team, it’s just my decision. He left the field before his teammates after that practice and did not practice the following day.

Ertz, a second-round pick in 2013, caught 58 passes for 702 yards and three touchdowns in 2014.

“It’s something that we wanted to get cleaned up”, Kelly said. “If we’re going to have to shut him down, I’d rather shut him down now than have to shut him down in the middle of the season”.

Kelly also said that Ertz saw Dr. William Meyers, who operated on Texans running back Arian Foster recently and has become the NFL’s go-to guy for sports hernia surgery in recent years. He talked to trainers before returning to work. “This is the time to get better”.
