In our previous ranking of James Bond theme songs throughout the years, we set certain criteria for success, including high drama and appropriateness while playing against shadowy title credits of guns and random vague lady bits.

He explained to The Sun newspaper: “I feel like my music can be very vulnerable and I wanted to have a touch of that with Bond and have him sounding more vulnerable than normal”.

Smith (23) recently revealed he wrote the song “The Writing’s on the Wall” in 20 minutes and already it is being compared unfavourably to Adele’s smash hit Skyfall.

Musician Sam Smith says recording the new Bond theme tune is one of the most intense things he’s ever done. I am so excited to be a part of this iconic British legacy and join an incredible line up of a few of my biggest musical inspirations. He sings, “If I risk it all / Could you break my fall?” The song, “Writings on the Wall“, premiered this morning on UK’s Radio 1, and the reaction has been quite mixed from fans and reviewers alike. And again: “A James Bond theme should be stirring and exciting”. Who knows? But I’m not looking for that; that’s really not what I want with this song. “So when bad things happen in my life, I’m going into the studio and writing about them”, Sam recently told NME about a new album.

“I wanted to bring out something timelessly classic that works with the project and the film, “Smith said of the song”.

The release comes a month before “Spectre”, starring Daniel Craig as Bond, is released in Britain and Ireland on October 26 before a worldwide release on November 6. “Thank you for all your awesome messages”.
