“But they checked, nearly two months, and they say, ‘He’s OK, he’s clear, he’s not terrorist.’ Now they say he’s a terrorist”, the father, Mohammad Rahami, said. Rahami has brown hair, brown eyes and facial hair; authorities say he should be considered armed and unsafe. “Things are moving very quickly”. No one was injured.

The bomb went off on Saturday in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood, injuring 29 people.

On Sunday, Cuomo had effectively ruled out a link to global terrorism, saying there was no evidence to suggest that. “To understand if there were any specific motivations, political motivations, any connection to an organization – that’s what we don’t know”, he said.

NBC’s Pete Williams reported on air that authorities were able to “exploit” cell phones attached to the bomb that did not go off in Manhattan and a bomb that did not fully detonate in Seaside Park, New Jersey, for phone numbers dialed and a fingerprint.

“This threat is real, but so is our resolve”, said the former secretary of state, in a presidential-style address that preceded President Barack Obama’s own remarks seeking to reassure the American public.

Another law enforcement official says investigators pulled over a vehicle “associated” with Rahami when it appeared headed toward an airport Sunday.

The official was not authorized to publicly discuss the case and spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss details of the ongoing investigation.

No one has been charged, and the investigation is continuing, Langmesser said.

Tannerite, which is often used in target practice to mark a shot with a cloud of smoke and small explosion, is legal to purchase and can be found in many sporting goods stores.

“There are certain commonalities on the way the bombs are constructed”, Cuomo said.

Authorities are still investigating whether that bombing is linked to explosive devices found nearby in Manhattan and in two sites in New Jersey.

The pipe bomb exploded Saturday in Seaside Park, New Jersey, before a charity 5K race to benefit Marines and sailors. The race was cancelled and no one was injured.

Federal Bureau of Investigation agents are searching an apartment in New Jersey that is tied to a man wanted for questioning in the New York City bombing.

Meanwhile, there has been an “unprecedented response by law enforcement, federal, state, and city” in response to the explosion.

Authorities said some of the journal was unintelligible because it was damaged in gunfire when Rahmani, 28, initiated a shootout that led to his capture Monday outside a bar in Linden, New Jersey. “We’ve gone through a lot of tough days and we’ll get through this”.

CNN reported that a possible terror cell is suspected in NY and New Jersey after the bomb blasts in the two states.

The New York City explosion Saturday night injured 29 people. “I couldn’t tell exactly what it was, but [it had] some kind of black, plastic rectangular device connected by two wires to this pressure cooker”.

Late Sunday night, five explosive devices were discovered in a trash can at an Elizabeth train station. The two men who found the backpack thought it might contain something valuable, but they alerted police when they saw wires and a pipe on the devices, the mayor said.

Bomb technicians arrived to the scene in Elizabeth and sent in a robot to examine the devices. The police and fire departments both report that none of the injuries appear life-threatening. He said the second device appeared “similar in design” to the first, but did not provide details.

Linden police say Officer Angel Padilla went home Monday night, several hours after he was shot in the torso. A forensic examination of the device and its components will be conducted at the FBI Laboratory at Quantico, Virginia. The driver had just picked up three passengers and was driving when the explosion occurred, shattering the car’s windows and leaving gaping holes in the rear passenger-side door.

The motive behind the bombings was not immediately clear, though New York Governor Andrew Cuomo described it as an apparent act of “terrorism”.

“I think this is something that maybe will. happen more and more all over the country”, Republican nominee Donald Trump said in an interview with Fox News on Monday.

“Then all of a sudden, vehicle horns went off, and I thought, ‘Oh, my God, this isn’t lightning”.

“It was an extremely loud noise, everything was shaking, the windows were shaking, it was insane”, he said. “This is a bomb”.
