Samir Nasri not fit enough to play friendlies yet says Pep Guardiola

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has confirmed his interest in swelling the club’s defensive ranks with the signing of England centre-half John Stones from Premier League rivals Everton. What I see until now in every training session, they tried and tried and really want to play. “I know we’re going to play not with the level I want in February, March and April but it is what it is”.

“Of course we have the Champions League, the most important game for our season”.

He added: “The football season is too long”.

Having finished fourth under Manuel Pellegrini last season, City face a two-legged tie to qualify for the group stages of the competition.

“Today you don’t have time to rest”. We need time and in the end we are going to do it. “But hopefully in the next two weeks he will be right with us”. “Everyone knows we’re going to try but we will see”. I believe when the ball goes from the central defender to the striker as quickly as possible, it comes as quickly as possible back.

When asked if he was pleased with Nasri’s progress, Guardiola said: “I can not have any complaints about the team”.

Fans of British soccer club Manchester City watch the players train before a match in Shenzhen in south China’s Guangdong province Wednesday, July 27, 2016.

“Both Bayern Munich and Dortmund are Champions League teams with fantastic players, that’s why I’m so happy with what I saw”.

And he has been frank about the fact it will take time for him to get his ideas across to the players he inherited.
