Samir Nasri ready to put troubles behind him at Sevilla

Sevilla have Samir Nasri on a season-long loan, despite the former France midfielder saying Pep Guardiola wanted to keep him at Man City.

Nasri left the club yesterday to join Sevilla on loan after a hard few seasons at the Etihad Stadium.

“Guardiola tried to make me stay but I told him that I wanted to leave and play regular first-team football”, Nasri told reporters. “I was looking for a family club and in Sevilla I have found just that, but until the last moment I haven’t been able to leave”, he said.

The 29-year-old scored 27 goals and won two Premier League titles in five years in Manchester, but after an injury-plagued 2015/16 season, new City boss Pep Guardiola had criticised his condition when he returned to pre-season overweight.

The 29-year-old France global made just 12 Premier League appearances for Manchester City last season in what was an injury-hit campaign, scoring two goals.

A year ago was hard for me, on and off the pitch, but now I really want to show my game in Seville.

Nasri spent six months on the sidelines last season after suffering a serious thigh injury which required surgery after muscle and tendon were detached from the bone. During the time I was injured I reconsidered my life. “I want to be adaptable in this team – I can play on the left or the right, or even as a false nine”. “I come to Sevilla to play well on the pitch and I learned a lot in the a year ago”.
