Sammy Watkins could be out weeks with foot injury

The Bills former first-round pick has led the team in receiving yards through his first two seasons in the league, and had one of his best games previous year against the Jets in the team’s regular season finale.

But then, the Bills offense was so out of sync, it gave chaos a bad name. A lot was expected, but none of those expectations were met vs. the Baltimore Ravens.

The New York Daily News reported Watkins’ foot was X-rayed on Sunday night after Buffalo lost its season opener.

I know the narrative from Taylor is that the Baltimore Ravens did plenty to limit his ability to escape the pocket by having their defensive front play consistently good containment and prevent him from throwing long by keeping their safeties deep.

“I just wanted to make sure”. But in games where nothing is happening, nobody’s going to yell if he delivers more magic with his legs, as he did on his Houdini-like 33-yard hookup with tight end Charles Clay. Ultimately, Watkins believes the more he plays on his foot the better it will feel and the better he will play.

Expect a couple of players to have bounce back weeks as far as fantasy football numbers are concerned. Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor completed just 15 of 22 passes for 111 yards against Baltimore’s revamped secondary led by Eric Weddle, who was signed in the offseason to provide more veteran leadership.

Watkins, the No. 4 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, tallied 60 receptions for 1,047 yards and nine scores in 13 games last season. There’s no particular reason why I did it. Unfortunately, after a fourth-down conversion placed the ball at the Baltimore 26, things took a sharp turn for the worse. Taylor only managed to average 5.6 yards per pass, meaning most of his completions were to short routes.

If you are playing in a points per reception league, better known as PPR, Marshall is a smart play. And Greg Roman should encourage him to do so while also keeping a generous supply of designed quarterback runs in the game plan. The dynamic receiver had his way against Darrelle Revis en route to a career-high 11 catches for 136 yards. Flacco could easily finish up with a 300-yard passing game, and at minimum, toss two TDs.

The Broncos’ Demaryius Thomas had an MRI on his hip Friday after the Panthers game Thursday night, but was able to participate in some on-field work Monday.
