Samsung caught using Apple Watch images in a patent application
Most recently a Samsung patent has surfaced that suggests the Korean firm is taking cues from its mortal enemy Apple.

Apple, in response, filed a brief last Friday that basically said “let’s get on with it and rule on this case”. But Samsung contends that part of the $548 million in damages it was ordered to pay Apple is far too high, and stems from a misreading of the law.
A tit-for-tat tussle between Apple and Samsung for tech supremacy has taken a freakish twist – with Samsung filing for a smartphone patent apparently using images of the Apple Watch.
“We have received overwhelming support for overturning the ruling in favour of Apple, including from leading patent experts, numerous concerned companies and the United States government”, said a Samsung spokesperson. The upcoming smartwatch of Apple is expected to feature a larger battery to improve battery life and the global positioning system (GPS).
“Although it’s shameful and sleazy, it’s certainly not surprising”.
Citing an 1887 Congressional decision that “it is the design that sells the article”, the group argued in favor of Apple, reminding the court that a jury found Samsung intentionally copied patents for “the most important design elements of the iPhone”.
Additionally, they point out Samsung has a “fundamental misunderstanding of design patents”, and that the “totality of the circumstances” that the Korean company proposes as a test for originality is lackluster.
We know competition between the two firms is intense. Apple invented them previous year to save people from having their watches just fly off their wrist willy nilly and into the faces of babies? IDC reports it holds 72 percent of the market in contrast to Samsung’s 7 percent.
Samsung rushed into the smartwatch category in 2013, rushing development in order to beat Apple’s then widely anticipated Apple Watch introduction, which took place in 2015.
In fact it’s rather ironic that Samsung would choose to use the Apple Watch in their design, especially when you consider that Samsung actually beat Apple to the market in terms of smartwatches, unless of course these drawings are a sign of what’s to come?
