The Galaxy Note 7 is one of the biggest smartphone releases of the year, and unfortunately for Samsung, shipments of the device have been delayed. Also, the statement did not mention which markets are going to be affected by this delay, Reuters reports. Local reports that Samsung has stopped shipping the flagship phone are not true, according to company spokeswoman Sophia Kim.

Media reports say the handset is now with Samsung and the company is testing the device to resolve the problem. The company is expected to announce the results of the investigation soon. There have been reports of battery explosions and even the S-Pen getting stuck inside of the body, but nothing has appeared to be on a large enough scale for Samsung to withhold new shipments. Pictures and videos posted on online forums and social networking sites show that the phone was severely damaged and nearly burned up. No injuries from the accidents have been reported.

In case you haven’t heard, a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 exploded in China last week. Samsung’s stock lost 2 percent in Seoul on Thursday.

There was another explosion of the Galaxy Note 7.

“It is an unexpected issue and until the cause is confirmed, a short-term impact is inevitable”, Eo Kyu-jin, an analyst at eBEST Investment & Securities, said in a report. The images have, however, been saved on the internet showing a severely damaged Galaxy Note 7.

The headline new feature in the Note 7 is an in-built iris scanner, which verifies your identify with a quick glance of your eyeball.

If Samsung does uncover overheating issues in the Galaxy Note 7, it could prove extremely poor timing, with Apple’s launch of the rival iPhone 7 now just days away.
