Samsung was highly busy last week with the launch event of its high-end Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+, but that’s not all the Korean tech giant produced during this period.

On the other hand, there is no official confirmation available to ascertain the availability of this flip phone outside of China.

Most (but not all) of the smart flip phones out there have been aimed at the entry-level market with pretty uninspiring specs to go with it, but that’s not the case here.

However, fans from China were apparently also in for a treat as the company’s China branch unveiled another phone.

There was a time when flip phones used to be extremely popular, until they were replaced by bigger touch screens because of their ease of operation. A powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset and 2 GB of RAM run the phone.

The SM-G9198 sports a dual 3.9-inch Super AMOLED display with 1,280 by 768 pixel resolution. The SM-G9198 comes equipped with a 16 MP rear-facing camera and a 5 MP front-facing selfie camera.

There is 16GB of inbuilt storage on the Samsung SM-G9198 flip phone while it supports expandable storage up to 128GB (via microSD card). Besides, the smartphone packs a 2,020mAh battery that is claimed to deliver 189 hours of standby time on a single charge and comes with a heart rate sensor. The handset supports dual-SIM functionality. The Samsung SM-G9198 supports Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, GLONASS, and Micro-USB connectivity options.

Unfortunately, the SM-G919 – for now – only appears to be geared towards the Chinese market. The flip smartphone is quite interesting in terms of the specifications and features it boasts.
