Samsung Galaxy Note 6 release date rumor: Handset to launch in August?

The consensus is, any of the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus are no match to the duo of Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.

Such move is no doubt the tech giant’s answer to two Galaxy S7 features that apparently got the nod of experts – the Super AMOLED screen that according to DisplayMate Technologies is the best there is around and a 12-megapixel that was boosted with wider f/1.7 aperture and bigger pixels with optical image stabilization or OIS. This is the same timeline that the current-gen Galaxy Note 5 appeared previous year, launching together with the Galaxy S6 Edge+.

Somehow Samsung managed to improve the brightness of the Galaxy S7’s display by 24% over that of the Galaxy S6’s, which is particularly visible in the high ambient light.

Rival Android smartphone-makers do use OLED, but Apple still relies on LCD displays. According to Soneira, the Galaxy S7’s screen impresses because components had to be scaled down by 20% compared to the Galaxy Note 5 without losing performance.

It’s also claimed that the Samsung Galaxy S7 display is “the first to do Automatic Brightness correctly”, with a more flexible and customisable Personalised Automatic Brightness Control on offer.

T-Mobile US is going a different – though familiar – route for its Galaxy S7 promotion, offering customers pre-ordering the device a free year of Netflix access, which is valued at $108.

The improvements are directly tied to Samsung’s advancements in OLED display technologies, which have a number of significant advantages over LCD panels, including being thinner and lighter with thinner bezels, faster response times, better viewing angles, and always-on mode.

Interestingly, DisplayMate says testing shows that the Galaxy S7’s screen is better than 2015’s Galaxy Note 5, a device which has a much larger screen and should therefore be able to outperform its new stablemate. The Galaxy S6 reached an impressive 784 nits of brightness, and the Galaxy S7 hits 855 nits. This results in the Galaxy S7 adjusting its brightness to your specific personal preferences, something else DisplayMate liked to see.
