Samsung Galaxy Note 7 another flagship killer for Apple?
The launch of the Galaxy Note 7 comes ahead of the latest iPhone launch, expected in the autumn, and days after Samsung reported its biggest quarterly profit in more than two years thanks to strong sales of Galaxy S7 smartphones.

It looks nearly identical to the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, curved screen and all, only a little more square at the corners, and with iPhone-style edges and lines at the top and bottom. The new Galaxy Note 7, the Korean tech giant’s flagship large-sized smartphone features similar specifications of the Galaxy S7, but it differentiates itself from others with an iris scanner and much improved S Pen.
These two things may not be the headline features you’ve read in other stories on the new Galaxy Note7 but they are the deal makers that may finally make Samsung a lot more likeable to those who have stayed away.
As we all know though, while glass and metal look fabulous, keeping them looking new after a few months is no easy task and unfortunately, something that is nearly impossible without a case to help. Battery capacity was upped on the Note 7, reaching 3,500mAh, and the phone comes with USB Type-C, a port that the Note 5 lacked. Moving on to network capabilities, the Note 5 features LTE Cat.6 300,50 Mbps while the Note 7 has LTE Cat.9 and a speed of 450,50 Mbps. As a brief aside, you’ll notice that Samsung skipped the “Galaxy Note 6” name in order to bring its Note flagship line up to speed with its Galaxy S lineup.
Samsung has signed partnerships with US and Korean banks for the use of user identification through the iris scanning technology of the Note 7 in financial transactions.
Samsung has launched its Galaxy Note 7 phablet with a bunch of new security features including the iris scanner. Just like the Samsung Galaxy S7, even the Note 7 is water resistant.
While this may seem like a minor adjustment, it does make the Note 7 slightly more comfortable to hold.
Perhaps more obviously, Samsung warns that the iris scanner is not meant to be used as a medical device. You can check out our S7 camera samples to get an idea of the Note 7’s camera performance. Reports point out that the digitizer in this device can communicate with the internal coil in the S Pen, to identify its position and degree of pressure – an interaction unhindered by water. Note 7 has more sensitive and accurate S Pen stylus. Worth noting here is how Samsung says iris scans are saved on the phone locally, not uploaded to Samsung’s server. Further, users will also enjoy the benefits that come with quick wireless charging as well as the quick charging features.
It has a magnifying loupe, quick text translation tool and a new tool that makes it easy to create GIFs from any video that’s now playing.
Highlights of the new Note7 include its 5.7-inch dual-edge quad HD screen.
You will also have more room for content on the screen since the Galaxy Note 7’s memo is scrollable.
