Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Launch Set for August 2

Prominent Samsung leaker Evan Blass posted on his Twitter account leaked images of what the Galaxy Note 7 would look like. Samsung’s new device will be called the Note 7, after the company confirmed it with naming the upcoming event “7 Unpacked”. It says that “with added functionality of the S Pen and large screen, the Galaxy Note7 is a powerful instrument for achievement and self-expression”, but that could easily be said about previous Note incarnations. Unlike its predecessor, the new SoC will give the Galaxy Note 7 a maximum clock speed of 2.4GHz, unless Samsung decides to cap it to a lower speed. If the rumors are to be believed, Samsung Galaxy Note 7 will be available in Black Onyx, Silver Titanium, and Blue Coral color variants. There are a couple reasons why.

The Galaxy Note 7 Unpacked event will take place at 11:00 a.m EDT in NY along with simultaneous events at London and Rio De Janeiro. Qualcomm has not announced a processor called Snapdragon 823, although this week it announced a Snapdragon 821, a slightly faster and more power-efficient version of the Snapdragon 820 used in Samsung’s popular Galaxy S7 phone.

Fans can tune in to the phone manufacturer’s official website and the Samsung Newsroom for the live streaming of the NY event. Along with the confirmation is a launch date set on August 2. Samsung also sent an event invite to the media, highlighting what appears to be the phone’s S Pen stylus.

Specifications that we know about already include a 5.7-inch 1440p Super AMOLED display, 64GB of storage plus a microSD slot, a 12MP camera on the back and a 5MP one on the front as well as an IP68 water and dust protection rating.
