Samsung Galaxy Note 7 officially back on sale

No, it’s definitely not a big deal that the safe Galaxy Note 7 units now feature a green battery indicator, and we surely don’t recommend turning it back to white since that’s one way to prove that your phone is not a time ticking bomb.

Samsung stopped selling the Note 7 earlier this month due to a battery cell issue after reports of devices catching fire.

Customers should now be able to charge their new devices without worry of battery issues.

Samsung also said it’s pushing out two software updates through wireless carriers. This update should have reached affected users’ phones starting Tuesday.

Samsung, which launched the Note 7 last month, announced on September 2 that it would stop selling the phones and is recalling 2.5 million of them worldwide because of a battery problem. “It appears that consumers are not active in seeking an exchange or a refund”.

USA safety regulators stepped in Thursday with an official recall, saying Samsung’s voluntary efforts were inadequate.

The Korean Agency for Technology and Standards made the order as Samsung prepares to resume sales of the smartphone. Although this technically goes against Google’s design standards, Samsung recently secured permission to make such an aesthetic adjustment. “And that’s a positive for consumers”, said CPSC director of communications Scott Wolfson. “Since the affected devices can overheat and pose a safety risk, if you own a Galaxy Note7, it is extremely important to stop using your device, power it down and immediately exchange it using our U.S. Note7 Exchange Program”.

“We acknowledge the inconvenience this may have caused in the market, but this is to ensure that Samsung continues to deliver the highest quality products to Samsung customers”.

The report states that 12 of these 26 cases were with a device that had no issues, seven with customers who were unreachable and seven other cases with customers who had cancelled the exchange. Samsung started a recall procedure but not before the Tame Apple Press started printing stories of “exploding” phones and the U.S. government took the unprecedented step of banning them on flights.
