In the meantime, brand new reports indicate that Samsung is considering a Galaxy Note 7 recall, at least in South Korea, and that battery worries are indeed real. ZDNet’s source says that it is undecided as to whether all units should be recalled, or only those that have the defective parts. “The problem can be simply resolved by changing the battery, but we’ll come up with convincing measures for our consumers”, stated the official.

Samsung will issue a global recall of the Galaxy Note 7 smartphone as soon as this weekend after its investigation on explosion claims found batteries were at fault, according to South Korea’s Yonhap News. She said media reports that Samsung has stopped shipments of the flagship phone are not true. The Galaxy Note 7 started shipping in the US on August 19.

In fact, delays were the main reason for why Samsung’s Galaxy S6 Edge phone had poor sales previous year.

Shares of Samsung SDI, the battery supplier of Samsung Electronics’ latest Galaxy Note 7 smartphone, plunged on September 1 amid speculation that its faulty batteries may have caused a series of explosions on the phone.

In addition, Samsung will be halting all shipments of the smartphone to the top three carriers in its home country of South Korea, namely SK Telecom, KT and LG Uplus.

The Galaxy Note 7 is Samsung’s latest flagship device and features a new symmetrical-edge design, a water-resistant body and a new S Pen that has a smaller 0.7mm tip compared to its predecessor.

Another incident of Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 exploding while charging has been reported in less than a week.
