Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphone: 8 big features

Samsung Electronics Co., the world’s largest maker of smartphones, unveiled a new Galaxy Note phablet in NY on Tuesday in a bid to keep up the momentum of its smartphone sales. This latest Samsung’s Android smartphone comes with curved, waterproof metal and glass body, just like some designs and features from the popular 5.5-inch Samsung Galaxy 7 Edge, according to CNN. It is the successor to the 2015 launched Galaxy Note 5; and indicates that Samsung has given Note 6 a miss. There a handful of new software features for the S Pen, including a magnifying loupe, quick text translation tool, and a new tool that makes it easy to create GIFs from any video that’s now playing. With Galaxy Note 7, Samsung has retained the pen-like locking mechanism which was introduced in the older Galaxy Note 5, but has improved its pressure sensitivity and has included a smaller 0.7mm tip.

The new S Pen writes easily and precision. The company is engaged in talks with banks in many countries for mobile banking arrangement using the new Galaxy platform.

The company, in a statement yesterday said, Samsung continued to drive innovation in the global smartphone markets with the Galaxy Note 7, building on the company’s category-defining leadership with exciting new features that set a new standard for large-screen devices.

“The Galaxy Note 7 combines productivity and entertainment into a single device with strong security features”.

The Galaxy Note 7’s battery capacity increased to 3,500mAh from 3,000mAh.

The Galaxy Note 7 is available in four colors – Blue Coral, Gold Platinum, Silver Titanium and Black Onyx. The device comes with many new features, including a Power Saving Mode that allows users to adjust display resolution.

Boosted by robust sales of the Galaxy S7, Samsung reported a second-quarter operating profit of 8.14 trillion won (US$7.3 billion), up 18.06 percent from the same quarter a year ago.

Industry sources said Samsung will begin preorders for the new model on Saturday in South Korea, with the factory price estimated at 988,900 won.
