Samsung has offered to replace all of the Galaxy Note 7’s with this problem and customers will be able to tell if the phone is safe or not by looking at the box. We’ve since learned that late on Friday the USA government safety agency urged all consumers to stop using Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phones, which are prone to catch fire, and top airlines globally banned their use during flights.

Any UK customers who have Galaxy Note 7 devices will be able to return their devices to Samsung, which will in collaboration with its partners and operators, voluntarily replace their current device with a new one. The company will reportedly mark safe Galaxy Note 7 phones with a blue “S” and a small black square near the barcode.

Aviation authorities and airlines around the world have also banned or issued warnings against using or charging the phone in planes or storing them in cargo.

The company noted that there have been at least 35 reported cases of phones with “a battery cell issue” as of last week.

Consumers can visit Samsung’s service centers to receive rental phones for temporary use.

Samsung suspended sales of the Galaxy Note 7 smartphone and announced a recall of 2.5 million units.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission has urged owners of the smartphone to discontinue using the device and to turn it off. For example, in the United States you can easily switch to another flagship like the Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge, if you’ve already ordered and paid for the Galaxy Note 7.
