Samsung Galaxy Note Recall Propelled By Official Consumer Product Safety Commission Directive
The recall, announced yesterday (Sept. 15), was launched after reports of Note 7 phones overheating and catching fire.

Samsung Electronics Co Ltd said on Friday it would resume selling new Galaxy Note 7 smartphones to South Korean customers from September 28, as it rushes to complete the costly recall and salvage second-half sales for the device.
If you have a Galaxy Note 7, look on the back of your phone where there should be a code etched on the bottom.
Lithium-ion batteries in the phones have been overheating, leading to burns and explosions.
The Note 7 has been a hot topic since its release last month due to reports of the device exploding.
Samsung Electronics America said Note 7 replacement units will be available in the U.S.at most retail stores by September 21. Major U.S carriers and retailers are working with the company and issuing refunds or replacements for the phones.
Samsung meanwhile announced replacements for the faulty phones would be available to U.S. customers next week. Samsung says it has sold 2.5 million phones with faulty batteries.
Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics will likely start its replacement program for the defective smartphones on Wednesday for its US customers.
“Knowing technology, we’ll have a Note 8 before they figure out the 7”, he said.
Impacted customers can find more detail over at the Samsung website.

It’s been the best and worst of times for two of this season’s most anticipated – and, for different reasons, hottest – mobile phones. Keep in mind that the United States is the largest smartphone market in terms of revenue generated, and this coupled with several other markets has caused Samsung to lose a total of $26 billion in market value. Replacement devices are supposed to be available in stores no later than September 21. Baxter goes on to say that Samsung will work to earn back consumers’ trust. This official recall prevents affected Galaxy Note 7 devices from being sold elsewhere such as eBay.
