Samsung Galaxy Note5, S6 Edge+ Announced

At the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2015 event today in New York, a couple of major announcements were made, particularly the global launch of the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ and Galaxy Note5. The company also said that Samsung Pay will be pre-installed on selected Galaxy Note5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ phones. The problem, for some buyers, is that the Galaxy S6 edge+ doesn’t have an S Pen stylus.

Samsung Electronics Co unveiled two new large-screen devices in the United States, in a bid to make up for falling revenues from its handset division.

Unfortunately, the 128GB version of the S6 Edge+ device isn’t appearing on Samsung’s UK website.

Both the Galaxy S6 edge+ and the Galaxy Note 5 handsets are equipped with an octa-core Exynos 7420 processor; and boast 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM, fingerprint scanners, 16-megapixel OIS f1.

The products and their accessories such as wireless chargers will be available at authorised retailers and Samsung Experience stores in Singapore.

Samsung is launching the devices a month early in a bid to try and get a jump on Apple’s new iPhone, which is set to be launched in early September.

Packing Android 5.1 Lollipop, the phablet-sized phone has a 16MP camera on the back and 5MP front-facing snapper for selfies. The Note 5 also comes with a new and supposedly easier to hold S Pen that can be popped out from the phone with one click.

According to Forbes, since the Galaxy Note 5 is productivity designed smartphone that has been released to replace the older Galaxy Note 4. The Galaxy S6 Edge Plus maintains its curved edges, along with a 16-megapixel camera, compared to 8 megapixels on the iPhone 6. Samsung says that launch timing and availability would vary by markets and mobile carriers.
