Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus release date, price and screen size rumours

Strong sales and strong profits are essential to fund the research, design and development of new phones, and if Samsung is forced to start cutting corners, then it really will be game over for the firm. Rumours suggest it’ll have a 1440 x 2560 or 1600 x 2560 display. Likewise, there have been a series of leaked images from AllAboutSamsung supposedly showing the a retail dummy version of the S6 Edge Plus alongside the current Galaxy Note 4, which also has a 5.7in screen.

In terms of Samsung’s upcoming offering, the company is expected to unveil the Note 5 on August 12th with an August 14th launch according to reports.

With the Galaxy Note 5 photos, we see a phone that looks a lot like previous Notes, only with a glossier, Galaxy S6-like shine.

GSM Arena wrote in a related report that one key feature that will be added to both the new Note device as well as the brand’s first “Plus” item, the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, is the expandable storage via microSD slot that supports microSDXC cards expandable to 128GB.

Although it has not yet been officially announced, Samsung India eStore is no longer selling the 128GB of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge. The iPhone 6 has made way for the Samsung Galaxy A5 and they occupy sixth and seventh place respectively. The S6 Edge Plus is identical to the Note 5, except there is no stylus capability.

We’re expecting – maybe hoping is the right word – that Samsung will include the next-generation USB-C port on the Galaxy Note 5. Samsung generally uses the IFA, Berlin to launch their Galaxy Note.

The image quality on the Galaxy S6 is generally better than the Note 4, with more accurate colours.

Gartner reported Samsung sold roughly 81 million units in Q1 of 2015, a four million drop on the 85 million sales it claimed during the same period in 2014.

The US carriers still have the Galaxy S6 priced at over $600, but you can get one significantly cheaper if you go a different route.
