Samsung Galaxy S7 is missing one of Android’s best features
The tech giant Samsung revealed the Galaxy S7 smartphone at MWC. It lets you put a microSD card in your phone and treat its gigabytes as an expansion of the phone’s built-in storage, instead of an extra, difficult-to-work-with space for photos and music. This implementation is quite similar to what us power users have been using for years, where we could partition the microSD card to EXT4 format and use symbolic links to virtually extend our internal storage (and even RAM if one needed, with swap partitions).

Unfortunately, Samsung is not supporting Adoptable Storage with its latest smartphones.
Unfortunately the lack of Adoptable Storage means Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge owners will have to juggle two separate storage locations, internal storage and the external microSD.
The update brings nothing new on the table.
With Adoptable Storage – because the memory on the card is seamlessly merged with the internal storage – this can play havoc with your apps and saved data.
According to Ars Technica, the feature will not be present in the new flagships, and it is unclear if adoptable storage will be unlocked when the LG G5 and Samsung Galaxy S7 receive their future software updates. Again, there’s a tinge of truth in that but, until the day 64 GB and 128 GB configurations become the most common option, not to mention affordable, users will still want more storage. We expect to see more of this OS on other devices such as Galaxy S5 and S6 Active, among others, as the company moves towards the mid-range devices, but this might extend up until summer. This particular Android Marshmallow adoptable storage model may erase important data. We think that our model of using microSD for mass storage is more in-line with our owner’s desires and expectations for how microSD should behave. With “Internal” mode disabled for both devices, the SD cards will only be able to be used for media-no apps allowed.

Basically, those who are rocking to the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ over on the SK Telecom network are the beneficiaries of this particular update.
