Samsung Galaxy S7: we tried the competitor to the iPhone 7!

The Gear VR featured prominently in Samsung’s launch event for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, and the company is even including a free Gear VR headset with preorders of the new phones – demonstrating that while a flagship phone on its own may not be enough to get users to upgrade, adding new connected accessories can be a game-changer. Samsung would have been better off with a similar technology for its S7, which could have helped make the new flagship a worthy enough upgrade.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 is a solid step up from the S6.

According to Go Benn Lee, product manager, Mobile Phone, Samsung Malaysia Electronics Sdn Bhd, it is because Malaysians generally were more excited over and favoured the Galaxy S6 edge over its non-edge counterpart a year ago.

Thankfully, the Galaxy S7 makes a welcome return to microSD card storage, and it can take cards up to 128GB. The Always On feature consumes 1 percent of battery life per hour but it can be turned off. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S7 has a 12-MP rear shooter and a 5-MP front camera. And, the Galaxy S7 brags their IP68 environmental rating. The super fast aperture allows the new smartphone to take better looking photos in low light conditions. The bulk of the additions come from Unicode 7.0 and Unicode 8.0 releases, but as with other platforms, some earlier Unicode characters retro-actively blessed with emoji status are also included, reports emojipedia. It doesn’t look like older devices such as the Galaxy S4 and the Note 3 will be receiving the Android upgrade. However, with the Galaxy S7 now unveiled, Samsung has actually given Apple the chance to do better and continue its everlasting dominance in the industry. However, as with other Samsung phones, the Galaxy S7 comes with bloatware which could affect its performance and memory. The device is powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 820 chipset, complemented by 4GB RAM that promises a fast and powerful experience to users.
