The S8 series preorders have been robust, topping previous records.

The S8 goes on sale on April 21 in Korea, the U.S. and the UK.

The Galaxy S8 features an end-to-end dual-edged screen called the Infinity Display, adding half-a-million more pixels to the display, according to Samsung.

Preorders of the Note 7 phablet whose production was discontinued, hit 400,000 units from August 6 to 18.

We’ll have to see how Samsung die-hards take to the new smartphone. It has been working to restore its reputation since the Note 7’s withdrawal last October after just two months on the market, which cost it the equivalent of five billion euros in profit.

On whether the Korean tech giant will adopt a curved screen for mid-range smartphones, Koh said Samsung now harbors no such plans.

“I think the Galaxy S8 will be the first device to regain customers’ trust and love”, he said. By comparison, last year’s Galaxy Note 7 had received only 200,000 pre-orders, and the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge had garnered 100,000 orders in the same period. English will be available sometime in May and Chinese in June, the company said. Samsung even included a dedicated button on the left side of the phone to activate the feature. Back in 2013 when Samsung Electronics announced the launch of its first generation ultra-large, UHD TV, the 85 inch Samsung S9 the Company jumped up and down to tell us how good the voice assist feature was in this device.

It’s unclear how the loss of Bixby at launch will affect sales, since voice assistants don’t rank as high for consumers pondering a new phone as other factors such as battery life and camera quality. Apple also has reasons for wanting its rival buried, the S8 looks to be far superior than anything that Jobs Mob has now, or has planned. There might also be two screens that will be designed for multi-tasking rather than being used as one huge screen display. Apart from the Note 7 mess, it is also embroiled in a legal battle involving its de facto boss, vice-chairman Jay Y. Lee, and other officials over corruption allegations in South Korea.

“The sales are better than our initial estimates and better than the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge past year”, Koh told reporters.
